The Higeia System is an electronic hygiene monitoring and control system which has been developed using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology. Its unique application of RFID, called ACTI/PASS™, together with its flexible reporting software, combine to deliver a powerful management tool which will prove indispensable to any organisation where hand hygiene is of critical importance.Higeia will enhance infection control and combat antibiotic resistance in healthcare facilities, clinics, nursing homes and food preparation facilities. THE HIGIEA SYSTEM

• Small tags worn by staff communicate via RFID with wall-mounted readers each time a hand-wash takes place
• The tags can be worn as name identification tags or as a separate item

A unique feature of the system is the communication technology used to ensure that only valid hand-washing activity is recorded. The system also counts gel/alcohol washes through pressure sensors.
